Is this much fat ok?

I tried to have a low carb day. I was doing real good, and even ended with a 12% carb intake, sounds good right? But I messed up at the end of the day. I fetl it would be ok to eat some low carb snacks. Alot of them. Stupid I know. When I entered the facts in my food journal, I saw the bad results.  Having nearly half of my intake be FAT doesnt seem good to me (42%). Is that really any better than having it be half  carbs but less fats? If I had stayed on my Low CAL version of my diet, I would have had less calories for the day overall but more carbs… which is better? I am so confused….I know I should not have had the snacks….but if I do have a snack, is a low carb high fat one  any better than a hi carb low fat one? Or are both just bad bad bad?!

Maybe if I go exercise I will feel better!

I am part of a weight loss research project at a university and they suggest 20% of your cals come from fat…
I eat 1500 cals and 33 grams of fat….and I think if you are having 1200 then it would be 24 grams…
so at your weight you should have 1855 cals and 41 grams of fat…for a healthy heart!
    Hope that helps!!!

The wonderous world of dieting! I personally think that you are better off with 50-60% carbs, but ‘good carbs’. You know, whole wheat grains and vegetables. Not too much sugar and not too much refined carbs (like white bread etc). I’m no expect and I’m following my own little beat of the drum so I may be way out. The south beachers out there would probably disagree. But I’m trying to keep a healthy balance of 50-60% carbs, 25% protein and 15-20% fat because that seems scientifically more sound and practically more realistic for the longer term.

At the end of the day, it’s calories that truly matter. The idea behind low carb is that it stops big ups and downs in your blood sugar so makes you more satisfied and less likely to snack. The overall product is still the same so don’t fret too much! ;)
